twitter emailed me to tell me to watch a live reality horror film on their website just now; i have opted out of all emails a thousand times and the unsubscribe link in this email just redirects to the front page. !evilcorpos

this unofficial user's guide to !gnusocial - https://karp.id.au/social/user/ - that i found on @nbd 's instance - is very clean, brief & thorough.

@echosa i know @gunvolt did a log entry that explains !gnusocial to - i don't know, "outsiders" or "twits" or something? those are horrible attempts but i feel like "types of people who don't know about gnusocial by now" is a concept worthy of some sort of shorthand - but i'm still having a hard time getting the non-fsf/gnu people i know to consider quitter ( #consTwitterThis ?) and i feel like i'm only entitled to, say, three attempts to publicly ask them all to favor #freedom & join the !fediverse in the face of the pre-ostatus status quo. have we a group specifically dedicated to methods to freeing twits from their subjugation? it's much more of a task than it should be! #RIPTwitter #takeBackTheInternet

i try not to be negative or confrontational. but i kind of want to tell @mashable a few things: 1) i was a fan of your content before !gnusocial & the rise of the !fediverse & i still appreciate most of what y'all make & do. 2) i have blocked your notices here because i already know your url and prefer to visit when i damn well feel like it. 3) i'm involved heavily in a lot of gnu, fsf & alt open-source projects, ostatus & its children included, and now, every time i consider the whole #RIPTwitter movement, i also think "boy, f'ck all those non-people who use #quitter to force their content into our eyelines" ... i'm sorry to single out mashable as there are others i've had to block for the same reason, but none that i had already held to a high standard of web-based-coolness. i write this to make you aware of how i assume non-person accounts make me (and i assume some others) feel about whatever is behind them.

@takeshitakenji i just did, has this really been ignored? !gnusocial

@tuxxus @smj !fediverse i haven't been back to any of the old places since i announced i'd be leaving for the new federated !sdf ... things here have evolved quite a bit since then vis a vis participation, diversity, activity, and quality of notice content; i wonder what the best way is to actually get people to listen and give !gnusocial a proper once-over. this article http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/sam-parker/twitter-why-i-quit_b_2582241.html is pretty compelling but it's only the "why //not// twitter?" and is missing the "why #gnusocial?" ... thoughts/advice welcome.

saw this in !privacy and was having trouble requipping it remotely, would love to know what !sdf (& !fediverse furthermore) people think of this open letter to customers from the macintosh apples company https://www.apple.com/customer-letter/

sometimes bangtags to offsite groups such as !fediverse or !sn are showing up as hyperlinks automatically and other times not #newinterface ... also i wish that following said links would keep me onsite and gather #network mentions by query, which may be something i can set in preferences but is probably something to do with the !gnusocial source #qvitter .. said @nydel to zeself in a publicly-viewable test queet.
