to ALL: if someone wants #hierarchical threading (1), please say so, we've a few !sn instances running with it still in the !fediverse. You are WELCOME there. (1) http://www.skilledtests.com/wiki/File:Hierarchical_threads.png https://fediverse.com/attachment/8153

My notes with the migration from !sn to !gs steps, may help somebody else: https://bugs.tenak.net/w/gs/fromsn/
-
@mk don't forget we're in !sn there (not that's it better in the newer !gs ;-) )
-
cc: from !sn !statusnet -> !gs !gnusocial
-
@mmn the problem here is that many #gs / #sn instances are not compatible with it and it may cause problems (wrong routed messages and then failing verifications). You may wish to ask @erkanyilmaz about it. I think he was the first to bring it to my attension.

@giammi Bad thumbnail size parameters. #Gnusocial #sn #statusnet
-
@mmn Yes, due to problems in #gs and #sn instances, if the same nickname exists on another server. Same for groups. I then would recommend a config entry common_config('site', 'allow_duplicate_remote_nickname') or so.
-
yeah, that is my old !sn instance, which is not working anymore, you can use my account here or @erkan_yilmaz (on oracle)
-
about he interface: we've still a few old !SN instances running with the "hierachical view", so I am sure we could host them there
-
@nawi This is a great time. The network of !gnusocial / !sn / #rstatus / other #ostatus servers needs more instances in more countries, IMO.
-
If you've set up a new !gs instance, please do the "use cases for new SN/GS instances" (1). cc !sn !statusnet !gnusocial (1) https://social.mxchange.org/url/1456
-
yes, but I run an old !sn also, it has some advantages to the !gs
-
why it doesn't work: I had reported it in the !sn bugtracker bug then + I remember someone explained it, but can't find it now, because https://fediverse.com/conversation/352823#notice-352823

it's one of the reasons why I still love my old !sn instance (nice conversation threads) cc @laurelrusswurm
