!TIL Learnt and wrote a significant program in python - an electrical circuit simulation using numerical methods and plotting results. #python #programming

!TIL: logging in #python. Very useful if you don't have to do all that stuff on your own :-)

I would like to write a web catalogue / bookmarking service in #Python, but cannot find a library that (looks like it) supports such an attempt. Any ideas where to start?

@dw @daw @windigo
I suspect from that error that the script is designed for #python 2.x, not python 3.x.

#JavaScript has a lot !security implications and it can currently not be understood by most search engines (I don't know even one that can). So if you want to drive good (and a lot) content into the search engines, you cannot bypass "static" pages (generated with #PHP, #Python, #Perl, #JSF and so on is not static but you can use #mod_rewrite to obsfucate your script names).

Let's Encrypt!
I have now installed a better #SSL certificate issued by #LetsEncrypt and with the help of this #python script: https://github.com/diafygi/acme-tiny
Plus I have used a largely expanded #shell script:
https://social.mxchange.org/renew-certs.sh
But now my SSL sites got rated with B by #SSLLabs because of an incomplete chain. I think I need to download the CA certificate and attach it at mine?
I also have (not yet reloaded) added DH parameters (DH = Diffie-Hellmann?) to my certificate parameters, I have read it will improve some security.

Composed a summary and criticism of (or sadness over) how #python chose #github over #gitlab, but microca.st is currently not responding.

Last month I was battling Java. These last few days C#. Tomorrow I will finally have a client where I can work in #bash and #python. Bliss.

@kzimmermann @deavmi It looks like #Jython is now up to #Python 2.7. http://www.jython.org/ (I found Jython to be good in restrictive environments where #Java is already installed on most computers.)
-
There is also a #Python implementation that runs on the #Java #JVM called #Jython. Last time I checked, it was around the Python 2.5 compatibility level, so years behind.

@gomerx @kat I must admit that #Ruby reminds me very much of those #Perl classes in college. But it does seem to have a little bit of #Python and #Smalltalk influence in it too.

@x11r5 Stop using the 2.6 branch of #Python. It is unmaintained. Use the 2.7 branch, or even better, use the 3.4 or 3.5 branches. http://www.snarky.ca/stop-using-python-2-6

I've created my own CI tool called leonard. It's just a script which runs flake8, tests, and prints which git branch I'm in. #python
