@mmn I like #JPA for a good reason, having no #SQL in your program but still be able to do queries (e.g. named queries) with #JPQL (Java Persistence Query Language) which is independent from underlaying database server. Theoretical you can switch from #MySQL to e.g. #PostgreSQL an it *should* work out-of-the-box as long as you don't use native (hard-coded) queries.

So next I'll want to use #postgresql as a backend. Hints on data migrations ?

Fighting with migrating data from #mnesia to #postgresql. No documentation at all, great.

Unlearning #MySQL to get used to #PostgreSQL takes some getting used to. I need it for #PostGIS, which just adds another mental level to the effort of reading documentation. But I guess it's worth it in the end!

!grrr schon wieder eine #Stellenausschreibung auf #stepstone gesehen, wo #McFly der #Ueberflieger (aka. sehr guter #Alleskoenner) erwartet wird. Und wieder #PostgreSQL und nicht #MySQL. :-(

#PostgreSQL is so damn strange…I think I'll use #MariaDB for everything from now on,the supposed superiority of pgsql isn't worth the hassle

Migrating #drupal database from #mysql to #postgresql. Feeling myself kinda better, IDK why.

@nds Someone in the #mediagoblin channel on #freenode #IRC said GMG is pretty firmly wedded to #PostgreSQL & #SQLite, though there is or was a #MySQL branch that was pretty far behind the git master.

Thanks to setting a limit of 10K pages in any crawl, done with both of those, #MySQL, #Firebird. About to start #crawling #Postgresql and then #MariaDB and #SQLite. #YaCy !YaCy

@erkan I doubt you’ll ever have that many users. How much did #ejabberd need for <100 users? (I’ve always chosen #Prosody because it is easy to set up, set-and-forget, but some things have never worked [e.g., using #PostgreSQL as back-end db and using #Spectrum as an external component for multiprotocol support])

Pleased to see some remote search requests reaching my #YaCy instance. So far, I’ve crawled #MySQL, Apache #Derby, #McKoi, #HSQLDB, #H2, #Informix, #PostgreSQL, #FirebirdSQL, #MariaDB sites. Maybe this will help improve results for db-related queries.

db plumbing is not enjoyable, at least not yet. Maybe as I do it more, I’ll learn more and enjoy having control over #MySQL and #PostgreSQL and #SQLite. #DBWizard
