@lnxw48 @dragnucs @zoowar ... and cleaning them up from old #laconica stuff (still there). In that step also that "hard-wired" web client can be separated (not removed, of course) from other logic code (means creating a real view toward #MVC). And if that is done (the transition will be mostly smooth) then a rewrite to more database abstraction will be nice (means getting rid of #PEAR).

I think !gnusocial needs a "dramatic" change here: That whole #PEAR thing is from good-old #PHP4 times and only #PHP5-compatibility classes have been added. So my wish here is that one day Pear is completely removed from #GNUSocial.
It may sound impossible to you, yes maybe now. :-) Some my plan is in the first step that the database stuff is getting way more abstracted, maybe transformed to a #DataGatewayPattern or so?

#PHP7 nimmt auf #PEAR Ruecksicht? Das Ding wurde doch nur #PHP5 kompatibel gemacht, nie aber wirklich komplett ueberarbeitet. Wann macht man mal PEAR neu? Daher kam es fuer mich nicht in Betracht, als ich mir mein Framework am aussuchen war. Mein eigenes #core -Projekt hingegen ist komplett #OOP und wird mit vermutlich wenig Anpassungen auch unter PHP 7 laufen.
