Klaus Jónsson Zimmermann (kzimmermann)'s status on Wednesday, 10-Feb-2016 04:49:36 CET Klaus Jónsson Zimmermann !TIL (finally) how to set up virtual servers in #lighttpd. One step closer to self-hosting #GNUSocial! -
lnxw48 (Linux Walt) (lnxw48)'s status on Saturday, 04-Jul-2015 09:12:01 CEST lnxw48 (Linux Walt) Still #test ing. Please ignore: I haven't used #Nginx at all, but from observation, I'd say that #mod_rewrite is the usual cause of incompatibilities (same thing with #Lighttpd). ISTM that there should be ways to rewrite paths using #PHP itself, independent of web server used. -
mmn (mmn)'s status on Wednesday, 03-Jun-2015 22:40:37 CEST mmn @mama21mama I don't really understand this. Are you having problems with !gnusocial and #lighttpd? I run it just fine with #lighttpd, is the bundled sample config not good enough for setting things up? -
n2admin (n2admin)'s status on Wednesday, 03-Jun-2015 09:49:34 CEST n2admin !fnetworks' #S2FN server is upgraded to use #PHP 5.6 (through a 3rd party repo) and #Lighttpd. Expecting to do the same on #S1FN soon. #Friendica #GNUsocial -
lnxw48 (Linux Walt) (lnxw48)'s status on Friday, 29-May-2015 22:41:09 CEST lnxw48 (Linux Walt) #NoteToSelf: When you add another #PHP extension, restarting #fastcgi / #php-fpm is not enough. You have to restart the web server, too. (at least #Apache, may be able to just reload #Lighttpd; not sure about #Nginx, since I've never used it) -

lnxw48 (Linux Walt) (lnxw48)'s status on Thursday, 22-Jan-2015 22:36:30 CET lnxw48 (Linux Walt) By the way, if you’re thinking about running !sn / !gnusocial on #lighttpd, the included
lighttpd.conf.example
file makes it very easy to get things running. #nginx, #cherokee, #hiawatha users should contribute similar files, to make it even easier to !selfhost. -
Roland Häder (roland)'s status on Monday, 19-Jan-2015 00:28:33 CET Roland Häder Sadly, I have to remain with #apache and cannot switch to #lighttpd. :-( But I can give #php-fpm a try ... -

lnxw48 (Linux Walt) (lnxw48)'s status on Sunday, 18-Jan-2015 17:51:28 CET lnxw48 (Linux Walt) @nawi I kept #Apache here because there is also a !Friendica instance. I’d have to try to translate #mod_rewrite rules from Apache format to #Lighttpd format.

lnxw48 (Linux Walt) (lnxw48)'s status on Sunday, 18-Jan-2015 17:34:30 CET lnxw48 (Linux Walt) @nawi I have used and am using #MariaDB and I have also used #Lighttpd as the web server.

lnxw48 (Linux Walt) (lnxw48)'s status on Sunday, 16-Nov-2014 21:09:16 CET lnxw48 (Linux Walt) I wonder whether the #uwsgi devs have thought about submitting that as a patch to #lighttpd. If it becomes part of the default install (and makes it to various distro packages), it will make it a lot easier to get both applications working together. -
lnxw48 (Linux Walt) (lnxw48)'s status on Sunday, 16-Nov-2014 20:32:53 CET lnxw48 (Linux Walt) @windigo True. There is http://head4.me/1i but that involves recompiling #lighttpd instead of the much more reliable method of using the package for your distro. -
lnxw48 (Linux Walt) (lnxw48)'s status on Saturday, 15-Nov-2014 20:17:57 CET lnxw48 (Linux Walt) @lnxw48 Though I must admit that !Friendica does not play well with #Lighttpd. I once had to manually try to reproduce the rewriting that #Apache does. I never got it to fully work. -
lnxw48 (Linux Walt) (lnxw48)'s status on Saturday, 15-Nov-2014 20:15:27 CET lnxw48 (Linux Walt) Watching @nybill and @windigo going through so much to try to get #Nginx to work makes me glad that #Lighttpd is my go-to whenever I replace #Apache. -
lnxw48 (Linux Walt) (lnxw48)'s status on Saturday, 15-Nov-2014 20:13:04 CET lnxw48 (Linux Walt) Wondering whether something like this would help (taken from the #Lighttpd example): Add this line to lighttpd.conf to enable pseudo-rewrites using 404s server.error-handler-404 = "/index.php" This would be different (of course) for #Nginx. -
lnxw48 (Linux Walt) (lnxw48)'s status on Tuesday, 11-Nov-2014 23:46:31 CET lnxw48 (Linux Walt) @windigo @nybill Well here’s one more link: http://head4.me/1e This is @jpope‘s #nginx config for his old !sn instance. Since I use #Apache and #Lighttpd, I know nothing about nginx-related difficulties. I’m just hoping that one of these links has the answer you seek.
