OMG, but I've to say this now otherwise I'll be counting at least 702 electronic sheep tonight: I prefer #gitorious over github -

@tuxxus I do not know whether you can still download federation_crawler, but it was at http://url.federati.net/wfY3B [ #gitorious, so may be down ] ... part of the skilledtests wiki list came via this tool. -

@chimo Where did you move your GS plugins repo? https://fresh.federati.net/url/3501 still says your plugins are hosted on #gitorious. #code-hosting #git !gnusocial -

I believe @knuthollund wrote a plugin for this. I haven't analyzed and pushed the code yet to the main repo, but I believe it works for him :)
You should be able to put it in your 'local/plugins/' folder. I think he moved the repo from #Gitorious but I'm not sure where right now. -

The concentration of centralized hosting on #github is the big issue driving this. Now that #gitorious and #google have given up, #gitlab faces a "grow or die" choice. I expected #bitbucket to make a move to acquire more (paid and unpaid) users, but they have thus far remained still. -

@x11r5 You'll have to move all your stuff off of #gitorious pretty soon. They are shutting down. -

Not sure where to fetch updates for my #nightly !gs installation. Neither #Gitorious nor #Githost seems to receive any updates atm. -

Somebody answered the vanish of gitorious - setting up gitbull.org now. They started the channel #gitbull on freenode. Seems to be forking GitLab under AGPL #gitbull #gitorious #git -

Do you know of any of those 'pad' sites that we could use to keep notes? I've learned and forgotten more about code-hosting since the #gitorious / #gitlab announcement than I ever knew before. //CC: @sergiodj -

@mmn @lnxw48 What are the guys behind #Qt #Libreoffice #opensuse doing? Perhaps they may want to continue using/maintaining #gitorious. And more generally, it would be good to know where #gitorious users will be moving, to #gitlab or what. Is there a way for the community can react collectively to that? -

@roland I believe @mmn is referring to the #gitorious software being abandonware. Unless some group of people steps up to maintain it, it gradually becomes less useful in comparison to other options. -

@mmn my idea was to use that software #gitorious for our own purpose and not continue gitorious itself (of course not as it will consume more and more bandwidth and storage). -
mmn (mmn)'s status on Friday, 13-Mar-2015 19:48:42 CET mmn
@roland do you want to take over the maintenance of #Gitorious source code? I don't. And running discontinued software doesn't sound very fun. -

@mmn how about running your own #gitorious instance? It is #free-libre #open-source software itself: https://gitorious.org/gitorious -

Since the #Gitorious code is being discontinued (afaik), and I haven't seen a community uptake on it, it would mean using code that is unlikely to get updates. I doubt any of us involved on our spare time with #GNUsocial have the capacity to overtake responsibility for the source code. Alternatives we have been looking at however are https://social.mxchange.org/url/29907 (#gogs - which is MIT licensed and is incredibly fresh/untested) and https:/…
