Snjór Hundur (hundur)'s status on Wednesday, 04-Feb-2015 17:11:23 CET Snjór Hundur @krosos Are you maintaining your own CA, or do you mean "my" as in "the one I use"? I never bothered maintaining my own CA since #CAcert handles all of that for me - and is more widely used and accepted than whatever I make myself would be :) -
Perro Greato (perro)'s status on Tuesday, 03-Feb-2015 12:32:38 CET Perro Greato @albertocabellosanchez Yes, #CAcert works great if you can distribute their root certificate to those you know will visit the website. But for openly accessible websites, most users will turn away if they see a security error. -
mmn (mmn)'s status on Monday, 02-Feb-2015 18:56:19 CET mmn And yes, #CAcert will likely cause people to back off. Even experienced users may not know that such a CA exist - and might even think that the CAs in the browser are trustworthy just because they're shipped by default ;) -

mmn (mmn)'s status on Thursday, 22-Jan-2015 14:26:11 CET mmn #class3 #CAcert is for 2 years (just checked with my cert on social.umeahackerspace.se) -
mmn (mmn)'s status on Thursday, 22-Jan-2015 14:25:30 CET mmn Yeah, get a #CAcert account - they are super easy and fast to get new certificates with. And you don't have to add every single one of your self-signed certificates in the trust db - just CAcert's root.
To start with you can only make certificates for 6 months ("class1"), but if you meet with "assurers" you get community points and can issue "class3" certificates which are valid for 2-3 years or something. -
lnxw48 (Linux Walt) (lnxw48)'s status on Wednesday, 21-Jan-2015 21:31:27 CET lnxw48 (Linux Walt) @knuthollund When you install the #CACert root cert, you usually have to choose what to trust it to do (sign web server certs, sign application code, etc). I’ve noticed that even though #StartSSL was preinstalled in my browsers, some browsers (and #Choqok) keep telling me it isn’t trusted for signing web certs.
