the worst part of email migration is downloading the backup archive. I don't want to move all messages to new server. I've been trying this for nearly two days. but none of my internet connections were able to provide uninterrupted connection for that long. I wish I used POP3 from the start.

@lohang Can you try to start a SSH connection from old to new server and copy your files over it?
-
@roland this is a google apps email account, so I have to use the archive produced by google. and I my new server is POP3, so I don't plan to move it there. But I have to download the archive before closing the account / cc @nawi
-
@roland so SSH not an option even to download to a local machine
-
@lohang Ahh, I don't use Google.
-
@nawi I am about to join you, almost there :-)
-
@lohang you could use thunderbird to move your imap mails to a local mail folder in small portions
-
@mcscx I already got entire email account synchronized that way. But I realized it sometimes fails to sync all the emails, especially the ones with attachments. So I want to make sure that I download the full archive too.

@nawi of course. I wanted to do this for a long time. This is the last account I had on Google
