stig atle (stigatle)'s status on Tuesday, 27-Jan-2015 13:30:53 CET stig atle Got promoted from Design Engineer to Project engineer today, been 8 years of hard work to get where I am now, I'm very excited! I have no finished education, but I landed my job here ~8 years ago, ( self taught 3d and programming) and now I got promoted. Could not be happier! - Roland Häder likes this.

stig atle (stigatle)'s status on Wednesday, 28-Jan-2015 06:51:44 CET stig atle @xrevan86 , do either of you have a list of packages needed for yaics to run properly? I have a issue on my mips machine, it only loads the public timeline, and I'm unsure why it does this, so I wanted to make absolutely sure everything needed for it to run is installed (if there is some dependencies except for QT). -
sazius (sazius)'s status on Wednesday, 28-Jan-2015 12:37:32 CET sazius @stigatle If some dependency is missing it shouldn't even compile. If only public timeline works, that means there is some problem with the authentication. -
stig atle (stigatle)'s status on Wednesday, 28-Jan-2015 14:09:43 CET stig atle @sazius It's a bit strange, because it's only happening on that machine, I saw the same on a machine I had with trisquel (compiled yaics from source).
On all my other machines the same source works fine.
I'll debug some more tonight and see if I can figure out exactly what goes wrong. -
sazius (sazius)'s status on Wednesday, 28-Jan-2015 14:32:27 CET sazius @stigatle Different versions of Qt? -
stig atle (stigatle)'s status on Wednesday, 28-Jan-2015 14:34:42 CET stig atle That's kinda what I was thinking. I'll check that first. (long day at the office, so I won't be home until tonight). -
stig atle (stigatle)'s status on Thursday, 29-Jan-2015 19:15:25 CET stig atle Do you have some info on how to use the deb stuff checked into #Yaics ? (how to make deb), I'm updating the readme.md with package info, and I'd like to make the deb available as well :) -
stig atle (stigatle)'s status on Thursday, 29-Jan-2015 19:49:15 CET stig atle I checked the Qt version, I'm compiling with qt5 on that mips machine (that only loads the public timeline).. It does not print anny connection errors or authentication errors, so I have to dig some more. -
sazius (sazius)'s status on Friday, 30-Jan-2015 13:23:57 CET sazius cd package; ./mkdeb.sh 0.4 - for the 0.4 version. But this probably requires some packages to be installed, perhaps "devscripts". -
sazius (sazius)'s status on Friday, 30-Jan-2015 13:25:28 CET sazius For new releases you have to edit the debian changelog for example with the "dch" command. But I can take care of the Debian packaging if you wish. -
sazius (sazius)'s status on Friday, 30-Jan-2015 13:26:13 CET sazius @stigatle That's a very strange error... :-) -
sazius (sazius)'s status on Friday, 30-Jan-2015 13:29:47 CET sazius @stigatle Actually I realised my mkdeb.sh script has a hard coded path related to my system. I just pushed a fix. -
stig atle (stigatle)'s status on Friday, 30-Jan-2015 13:55:57 CET stig atle If you want to handle the deb packing then that's fine with me, then I upload to my site, then update the readme later tonight with all the packages.
I'm going to fix the windows dependency issue tonight, I'm installing yet another fully clean windows VM that I will debug with to make sure it's all working as it should before I upload that and update the readme. -
stig atle (stigatle)'s status on Friday, 30-Jan-2015 16:34:12 CET stig atle I copied the windows compile of yaics into a fresh windows 8 install, nothing else installed, Yaics loads, but same strange issue as with on my mips machine - it only loads the public timeline. makes me wonder even more about what this could be.. -
stig atle (stigatle)'s status on Friday, 30-Jan-2015 16:47:55 CET stig atle @sazius it starts and loads all the timelines on the windows machine I compile it on - but not the avatars. So that's kinda fishy as well (I have also seen this on the mips machine).
I'll look more into it and see if I can figure something out. -
sazius (sazius)'s status on Friday, 30-Jan-2015 23:23:42 CET sazius @stigatle I don't mind if someone else does the Debian packaging, I just offered to do it if nobody else wants to :-) I think the main thing would be to get it into actual Debian, though. -
sazius (sazius)'s status on Friday, 30-Jan-2015 23:24:41 CET sazius @stigatle Are you sure it's not a Qt5 issue? I don't remember if I've ever tried yaics with Qt5. -
XRevan86 (xrevan86)'s status on Friday, 30-Jan-2015 23:39:18 CET XRevan86 @sazius I build !yaics with Qt5 and have no such problem. -
stig atle (stigatle)'s status on Saturday, 31-Jan-2015 07:40:49 CET stig atle I can build and maintain the deb, no prob :) I tried the script and it worked. Also - I'll grab qt4 and try, that might be the issue as you say. -
sazius (sazius)'s status on Saturday, 31-Jan-2015 08:06:02 CET sazius @stigatle OK, great :-) The current .deb builds against qt4 actually, so that should be updated if we want to standardise on qt5 in the future. -
stig atle (stigatle)'s status on Tuesday, 03-Feb-2015 21:08:11 CET stig atle @sazius figured out the non-loading timeline issue. its so stupid i do almost not want to say what it was. It was that I had used the wrong password, as simple as that.. and yaics did not tell me that. thats why the public timeline worked but not the other ones. at least now I know what it was, so that it can be addressed. If it fails to load the timelines it should say something like : Failed to load timeline, please make sure server and credentials are correct…
