TBH the best base for a social network I've seen is #Diaspora; it simply ticks all the right boxes. Except a good user base.....grrrr
-
@kevie the functionality of G+ was my favourite of any social network I've been on. Just a pity it was Google!
-
@kevie what’s do you think is better about diaspora than friendica or redmatrix?
-
@luke g+ non-functionality 4 users (presumably improves mining for g) you can’t post to a group and your circles & only 1 group per post
-
@laurelrusswurm to be fair I haven't used redmatrix much at all. I like Diaspora's UI, I love the fact that it is federated but you can search for people across the various pods just by typing names in the search box (sadly this doesn't work with tags). That is one thing that gets annoying with gnu social, it's difficult to find people outside of your instance.
-
Yes, but try looking for something else than a tag or a person in #diaspora search box. Full text search in !gnusocial is a big +1 for me. That's why people on diaspora tag every word of out two, I guess ;-)
-
@aroque !diaspora and !gnusocial have both different concepts: In the first one you shall follow tags and not people, the second one is to follow people and tags/searches. You can share with people in #diaspora but that is pushing your data to them and not pulling from them (like in #gnusocial).

@laurelrusswurm I didn't say it was perfect did I! I just like the idea of circles so I could have family, friends, colleagues all together
-
@laurelrusswurm and be able to post to the appropriate set of people. My family wouldn't be interested in stuff for colleagues for example
-
@laurelrusswurm but the reason I stopped using G+ was it did feel every post was helping Google improve/prefect their mining algorithms.
-
I don't see dents from @laurelrusswurm here: https://social.mxchange.org/conversation/89524 And I do follow her.
-
@luke that is why I try to avoid #google entirely, no #android, no #googlemaps, no #googlenews, no #google-search, nothing.
-
@luke here is a German documentation about Google's secret powers: https://social.mxchange.org/url/26478 #tracker-pixel found there: #edgesuite.net

@roland your name has been noted!
-
Why do those comments appear in the #diaspora thread? Shouldn't they be a reply to this one, instead? https://quitter.se/notice/3298367

I'm still moving on #youtube but I keep cookies + ads disabled there.

@roland good for you. Whilst I fail at being googlefree I do make sure not to sign in when I use them to minimise the info they get.
