So, I found identi.ca because a Gentoo dev was cross-posting to twitter from identi.ca. And then I found Linux Outlaws on identi.ca. And then I met y'all. Not looking back.

@nds I found #StatusNet through its #Wikipedia entry because I looked for a #decentralized #social #network.
-
@nds I found Identi.ca because Les Pounder got me to start an account at OggCamp, I believe. LO and LUGradio got me to OggCamp. Madness!
-
@roland I've found many Free software projects through Wikipedia - I love the "License" column on comparison pages. :D

@windigo @nds I found #Identica because someone on !Twitter mentioned that a lot of FLOSS people were using a clone called Identi\.ca. I already used 3-4 other similar sites like Jaiku and Plurk.
-
I should mention that I quickly found Jaiku and Identica to be more functional and reliable than T and with Plurk’s weird horizontal timeline, a lot more functional and usable.
-
I can't remember exactly how I found identi.ca. I think I was explicitly searching for open source twitter alternatives at the time because I was going through that typical open source angsty teenage fanboy phase.
-
@speeddefrost @nds it was Paul Hudson (formerly of TuxRadar Podcast) that first brought identi.ca to my attention :)

@speeddefrost @nds @kevie Yep, I came the Linux Outlaw route. Back in the day 6+ years ago, the LO forums were hopping. Basically it was like IRC. Everyone hanging out and chatting. Then people started to move to identi.ca. I resisted a while, but made my way there. Then on to hosting GMN.

@kevie @speeddefrost @nds I was pointed to identi.ca by @brightyte in 2010.
