We don't need to defeat Twitter. We need to be best at what it is that GS/PA/Mastadon/etc do. As long as #federation remains compatible between all social-network software ( !gnusocial !diaspora #friendica and all the others) we can be a good alternative to those bloated #corporate islands. that is what makes the !fediverse good: #open-source and #federated. :-) -

My point was we should focus on what makes the fediverse great (the federating, decentralized software), and less on making something just to "beat" twitter - most things that try to do the latter seem to miss the point.
