@marcus :D

@mcscx @inscius @marcus I think Richard Matthew Stallman is not like that as this is only the drawer's impression.
-
@mcscx @inscius @marcus but sure he is right, #Linux is only the #Kernel, not the whole operating system as #GNU/Linux is. Only the "common mouth" uses Linux for the whole OS/distribution as they use #Windows and not #Microsoft Windows.
-
#tpzo: Only -> But
-
@roland I disagree. I know several IT professionals who understand nothing about GNU. They think everything has been created by Torvalds
-
@mcscx oh, how bad. Well, not even Linux users know what it (kernel) is ...
-
@mcscx @roland i am a noob and i know RMS and linus made gnu/linux linus gets the credit because he help made the kernal
-
@roland Agree. Still funny tho :) @marcus
-
@roland @mcscx funny enough, this is only true for the traditional desktop. If you run Linux on a mobile platform you call it most of the time something like Android or Jolla. Actually Linux on the Desktop is the one and only example where people call the OS like the Kernel. Just to create some initial confusion and make people start to think I occasionally call my Desktop OS just GNU.
-
@roland I do know better, but still sometimes I say !Linux instead of !GNU/Linux. It's a bad speech habit, or maybe just laziness.
-
@bobjonkman my vote is for laziness. :-) Sure most people then are getting confused when you tell them that you run latest Linux 4.7.2: https://www.kernel.org and they have e.g. !debian 8.5 and think I'm outdated. Well, of course, I know what they mean. :-) I'm not a know-it-all for sure so I try to explain the difference that they have lesser confusion.
-
@kris you say so ;)
