@kat @inscius more cos there was no registry and instead everything had a preference/config file like Linux does.

@luke @kat Ha! In 1996 I installed Netscape, Trumpet Winsock, a web server I can't remember and perl on my WfW 3.11 IBM PS/2 386 in the mail room. After a few weeks tinkering, said to my boss "Hey, look what I can do!" and suddenly I was a professional Web developer.

@grmpyoldman We should really provide a proper #Linux distribution for such devices. Maybe it is possible?

@inscius although my main OS was Windows 3.11 wfw i began to play with something called Slackware Linux a free clone of unix @luke @kat

@inscius no, later changed to !debian i think it was version 1.3.1 "Bo" and still with it, now with "Jessie" @luke @kat

@inscius the 1st one i remember with name was "Hamm" , i found later that 1.3 was called "Bo" @luke @kat
