@matthew @david Anything digital is inherently reproducible, which means it could be iterated indefinitely. But we can still charge for it in the meantime.
I put my translations for the Indianos into the public domain. I'm not worried about making money from them. For sellable digital goods, I plan to use CC-BY-SA for the sole reason of avoiding a situation where someone else copyrights my work and then goes on to legally block me from using it.
Most big companies value their "intellectual property" above all else. In fact, Kevin Carson (and the Indianos) argue that IP is really the only reason big companies exist at all. If information was available and usable, hierarchies would become pointless. When information is distributed, power is distributed.
