@mariotaku There's also @andstatus who can speak Android Client developpement.
@mariotaku I don't mind changing the API to more closely match Twitter's, to ease the migration for any client developers. The backend's a big mess and I think it's better if I rewrite + fix the expected endpoints instead of you trying to adapt yourself to what probably just exists since it's been there forever. :]
If you run into any expected behaviour, let me know and I'll fix it asap!
@mmn @mariotaku This - of course - is true for Friendica as well. We will do every needed change to make the Friendica API more compatible to the Twitter API, if that eases your development.
@mariotaku !GNUsocial's issue tracker is here: https://git.gnu.io/gnu/gnu-social
Pinging me about small things is usually the fastest method though (feel free to both publish an issue and ping me here about it).
@mariotaku \o/ That's good news - thank you!
@postblue I just thought: Maybe AndStatus also should have "Settings" link in the Navigation Drawer?! ...On the other hand, we need "Settings" on pages, which don't have a Navigation Drawer...
@mmn @heluecht@pirati.ca GNU Social and Friendica have APIs, "compatible" with Twitter REST API v.1.0, which is NOT current Twitter API for a couple of years. Moreover, Twitter removed documentation on that API from its site. So now we don't even have a golden source of "correct" implementation. And even more, StatusNet explicitly published it's extentions to that legacy API. I mean, there is no good reason to change existing GNU Social API for compatibility reasons.
As we mentioned already in other discussions, it would be much more beneficial for the "fediverse" to improve (read: change) API in another way: to have globally unique message and user identifiers etc. That way is mostly away from compatibility with Twitter API, which was designed for a centralized system.
@mariotaku
?!
@andstatus Our guide is the Twitter API but yeah you're right that we need some fixes which are specific for the !fediverse. I'd suggest discussing this to get a consensus but I'm personally distracted for the next couple of days at least :)
@andstatus @mmn Is @mariotaku the real #twidere developer or just a bridge account?
@dragnucs All evidence points to @mariotaku being the real deal!
