Vodafone infecting servers is getting viral :\

!security
- tuttle repeated this.

@moshpirit Holy crap! That's just awful. #Vodafone should be stripped of its right to distribute internet connectivity.
-
@andresinmp Nevertheless, it's something which should not be forgotten.
I wouldn't trust a food company that silently put cardboard in the food "because it made people full" and then stopped when when people complained about malnutrition. If it could happen in the first place it could happen again.

@andresinmp Why would it require admin rights? And no, your browser would think it's part of the actual website. The only way to protect somewhat against MITM attacks on the web is to use HTTPS.
-
@mmn @andresinmp #TLS everything, incuding your !xmpp and mail connections ... also, use a #VPN / #Tor

Here in the US, Comcast does injections into arbitrary sites as well--they will inject javascript pop-ups to inform you that your IP address has been accused of violating the DMCA by downloading copyrighted material (usually via bittorrent), as well as when you're approaching or exceeded your monthly data allowance (and thus being auto-charged for additional bandwidth).

@imojito a friend of mine told me that this is something that they still do and I found this link in my Reddit TL precisely because of that. Anyway, good point, I didn't see it (or the last edited: 2013)

@rudism these are different reasons: surveillance vs Copyright/Max megas. Anyway, they infecting servers is like:
please, stop the train, I'm getting down. RIP Internet.
