@dragnucs make sure you have a functional site with all navigation without JS (even if it doesn't do what it needs to do). Explain that users will see a site without JavaScript (and that they CAN continue) but that JavaScript is needed for the actual functionality. For the really suspicious, you could provide a link in that message to inspect/download JavaScript and CSS.
@mk I am currently trying to make the site #LibreJS friendly. I mighgt just link them to the LibreJS required scripts table. Otherwise trying to make a fallback with the same functionalities would make the con extremly hard to maintain.
@mk I am not against the use of JavaScript, I just made exstensive use of it in my recent project. the thing is that I don't like it becaus it doesn't render the same on all browsers. you can't image my face when a co-worked opend the site on IE8! I just decided to flat-out block IE < 9.
@dragnucs if you only exclude IE 6 (maybe 7) there are good ways to manage the differences and shortcomings or the IEs - they are capable of doing most what other browsers do - they just do it differently ;-)
@dragnucs I wasn't suggesting *you* are. but some people are and I think they're misguided (literally). But I am against bad JavaScript (and there's an awful lot of that around)
@mk You mean when JavaScript is used purly for display and if you don't have the website becomes total crap?
#Mozilla removed it from the default end-user settings window, but you can disable #Javascript in about:config
Yes.
