I think you should really pick up the user from the drop down menu plus check the private lock. Does it work that way?

@aroque the recipient was not selectable as only group can be selected there. To write a private dent you still have to go to the user's profile and then the user is in the selection box. If you forget this, despite you click "private" (lock set) the dent ends up publicly.

We added this during the first hackfest. If you update to the latest master you should be able to select followed users (on top of groups) from the recipient menu

@aroque okay, that is nice to hear. So now I have wait until it makes it into #next as I don't use #master on a "productive" server (means where I don't like to mess around with the data).

@aroque okay, I *am* on #master with !gnusocial , I forgot that #nightly is the latest code and #master is more stable than nightly.
