“Mistaken” 8.5M earthquake in Peru - Deleted, called a “national drill” and a “mistake.”

The USGS is so full of shit. People's lives could be in critical danger and they blatantly censor info like this -- twice.
Fucking disgusting.
-
@speeddefrost well, there *was* a 5.5M earthquake in Chile yesterday: http://www.orfeus-eu.org/earthquakes/recent_earthquakes.html ;-)
-
@speeddefrost and a 5.5M one "near the coast of Peru" on the 15th: http://www.orfeus-eu.org/eida/navigator.html?evid=442239
-
@speeddefrost it really didn't happen. There was however an earthquake today near the coast of *Japan*. :)

It (singular), or they (plural)? Two were deleted, and under circumstances I doubt were 'mistakes'. Times, locations, and depths were all recorded, and then they were wiped. I naturally have a deep-seated distrust for authority, so just don't argue with me based on their excuses.
-
@speeddefrost They were NOT recorded elsewhere, indicating they were not actually recorded - which was the mistake. Never rely on a single source - that's why I pointed you to another one ;-)

@speeddefrost @mk some people may say strange things about earth quakes, like they are artificial, made by aliens... I don't believe in such things. They happen naturally when two tectonic plates are moving under each other or against each other or passing side by side. So it is very natural and not artificial. So what we can do is, to move people away from such areas, but that is not going to happen so easily ...

@roland The only thing we can predict so far is *that* an earthquake is likely in a particular area, sometimes an approximate time frame (like "within the next 10 years"), but never the exact time, or even week. You're not going to evacuate cities of millions for something that may happen the next decade. Besides, people may choose to live in such an area because it has advantages greater than the risk of an earthquake. Try moving everyone in Japan ;-)

Do these 'other' sources explain how the exact same thing happened in Australia right after these ones? http://micro.fragdev.com/url/66659 No of course not.

@dutchsinse's forecasts have always been accurate. Mainstream scientists also conveniently 'discovered' earthquake forecast techniques that this guy has been using for a while and never even bothered to credit him. I do not and will not ever trust anyone else but him when it comes to earthquake info -- he has proved himself beyond a doubt.

@mk that is my point. :-)
