Got my new Galaxy note 4 today, it's amazing how much crapware they put on new phones, it's crazy.
No wonder I flashed all my previous phones.

I tend to avoid buying those phones, unless they can be fully Freed with projects like Replicant. Still running a Galaxy S2 because of that.
-
I tested replicant, but I ran into issues with battery and slugish graphics etc.
Also - since it's a work phone I need proper wifi and all that. the best solution for me was to run cyanogen mod,.
-
Also, nothing in the mail today (just so you know).
-
I had some graphics issues on Galaxy S3 so I switched back to S2. I am not using Wifi at all on that phone.

I hope to have a fully open source mobile one day. Also a big issue is the radio communication and tracking and all that. But one day that can be avoided by meshnet all over, with wifi only type phones.

@stigatle @marcus @marcusmoeller I think if you can get rid of the #GSM modem with its non-disclosure agreement, you should be much better. Nice idea of having a full #wifi phone. :-) Maybe it can use already existing meshes, such as !freifunk ?

yes, having a Free GSM Modem as we once had in #openmoko would be great. There has been a crowdfunding campaing on that recently: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/free-software-cellular-baseband

I only had those issues on a S3
