Dear friends, I have now moved to another instance, my new address is https://gnusocial.no/lohang Please subscribe to me there. I highly value and appreciate the conversations and interactions we are having here, so I hope to see all of you there too. Many apologies for the inconvenience. !fediverse

A !fediverse goal should be identity independence. This is one reason we have webfinger. Changing a data server should be as easy as updating a webfinger profile on the identity server. Sadly, gnosocial is a monolithic design.

@zoowar I want to fix this too but it would break StatusNet compatibility most likely. Not sure how to do otherwise.

@lohang@gnusocial.no Make sure to suspend all subscriptions you had with your deprecated account.

@mmn@social.umeahackerspace.se Could automatic fail over be possible interacting with not upgraded servers?
-
@andstatus Failover in what sense?
-
@mmn@social.umeahackerspace.se Something like identity of a User at that server is static. Plus the server itself has sort of a "legacy" flag or simply protocol version associated with it...

@mmn@social.umeahackerspace.se What _I_ dream of is the extension of "Twitter API", allowing to operate with GUIDs of Users and Messages. So e.g. GNU Social federation could be _one_ "Social network" in terms of AndStatus application. With many "entry points" - GNU Social servers/"instances".
