How do the adult insects look like? Thus http://is.gd/qHR8as (silverfish) or thus http://is.gd/U18CYw (cockroaches)? Remember: Both are annoying, but harmless.
@simsa0 I mostly crush them so next time when I see them, I try to only kill but not crush them so I can take a closer look. But what I have seen is that they are not silver at any part of their body.
@simsa0 I'm not sure, if they have 2 dark stripes near their head like this one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Blattodea._Cascuda._Santiago_de_Compostela_1.jpg #Wikipedia #GermanCockroach https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_cockroach
Ok, revisit the link, scroll down, as there are brownish silverfishes too.
Regardless of whether they are silverfishes or cockroaches, as tenant you're obligated to inform your landlord about Mietmangel, cf. http://www.berliner-mieterverein.de/magazin/online/mm0412/041224.htm (in German)
Cockroaches are broader than silverfishes.
Ah, I just found that there is the species "firebrat" related to silverfishes. They are more brownish http://is.gd/0v39DF , love humidity, higher temperature, and flee the light. They can be found in bakeries too.

@simsa0 no, they are not like that, but thanks anyway. And I also find them in kitchen and "living room" (Computer room with sleeping corner).
Silverfishes and firebrats can occur outside bathrooms well. They don't move vertically up the wall (that's why they are found mostly in the sinks), cockroaches OTOH do. Do a lightning test: If at night the insects flee from sudden light, you may have encountered a cockroach.
BTW I love your description of a living room :-) Sounds familiar to mine :-)
@simsa0 thanks for your help (links). I for 100% have German #cockroach here (2 black stripes on back of head and typical non-functional wings folded on back).
@simsa0 "predecessors of silverfish are considered the earliest … insects & one of the first #animals. They evolved … > #400million yrs ago"
Yep, two black vertical stripes at the neck, that's a cockroach. Sorry to hear. You should inform your landlord after the holidays, so that he pays for the pest controller.
Yes, it's astounding, isn't it? As our panic and revulsion ... seem to go back the same time span.
When I first encountered silverfishes in my bathroom, I had a total freak out. Very interesting how this disgust erupts w/ such immediateness and intensity.
@roland @mcscx
@simsa0 my parents also had them when I was a kid, disgusting things are they but sure I don't fear them (as they don't mean harm).
Yes, and still I'm surprised about the immediateness and intensity of our reaction towards them. This revulsion seems as old as they are.
@simsa0 @mcscx @roland Silverfishes are amazing. They are disgusting and in the same time fascinating by the way they move and run.
Yes, absolutely.
