#git is distributed but the social networking around it, which #github #gitlab and alike add, is not. We need a distributed / federated way to comment and discuss on commits that doesn't require a central hub. Otherwise you'll always get this tendency to beehives. Perhaps one could start with a !gnusocial plugin?

I copy that. :-) :-) :-) A #social, #federated code #repository platform ... I wonder if we can make that with !gnusocial itself ... Yes, it leads (not exactly) away from the original purpose: micro-blogging. But else we have to rewrite the whole federated thing again which we already have here.

@aroque currently the commits are fed into the !fediverse by #RSS bots. That is already really nice but not exactly what I imagine. Just see it this way: parts of #gitorious embed into !gnusocial to allow commenting on commits.

@roland @aroque Can't !gnusocial main features and functions be packaged as libraries? Something like #movim does. It has Modl which is the Movim DB Layer and Moxl which Movim XMPP Library and they can be used separately on other projects.
-
@dragnucs I did not realize they were so modular. Still planning to take a deeper look at #Movim. (GS may need more modularity, but that means we need more people contributing code.)

@dragnucs @aroque Nice idea. :-) Well, I think that should be a goal for later as for the current state of the code it is still to much #StatusNet (where the main web #UI is "hard-coded" into the software).
