New DuckDuckGo trick; if you search for "random MAC address", apparently it just gives you one. Sweet!

@windigo Unfortunately you've already given away your MAC if you can do that search ;)

I'm not sure what you mean.

1. DuckDuckGo is still operated in and under US law.
2. Using the internet means revealing your MAC address. If you're looking for a random MAC address, I assume you want to hide your own hardware's address. If you've already used your own hardware's address to find a new one, you've gained nothing in privacy. ;)

Your own MAC address is of course not submitted to DDG, but the local ISP or wifi router you're connecting to knows it. And it's before the stage of connecting there that it should be switched to something new.

Given that they likely cache the entire internet's traffic (which is available to them) for at least a couple of days, I don't think it is wrong to assume they are also interested in which hardware is connected where.

@mmn @espectalll123 Apparently linux containers need their own MAC address, so I just needed a random one. No uniqueness required. :)
