Two days ago, I pushed out a new version of the GTK3-based GUI Systemd Manager application, written in Rust. In this new version, 0.3.0, the program now provides two additional buttons for each unit for stopping and starting services. Since my last status update on this application, a certain Arch Linux user helped test and package my application for Arch Linux via the AU…http://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/post2015-11-26T07:30:54+00:002015-11-26T07:30:54+00:00http://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/personhttps://status.vinilox.eu/user/121855mmstickAn autistic Linux enthusiast with a hobby in programming and interest in anime.mmstickMichael Aaron MurphyAn autistic Linux enthusiast with a hobby in programming and interest in anime.Saratoga, Arkansashomepagehttps://plus.google.com/u/0/114251447858061222694truetag:status.vinilox.eu,2015-11-26:noticeId=3609165:objectType=thread:crc32=94286dcehttp://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/notetag:status.vinilox.eu,2015-11-21:noticeId=3600113:objectType=noteNew note by mmstickI have a couple updates to make but I'll announce the rest tomorrow. Tonight, I will announce that I've gotten PolicyKit permissions for my GTK3 systemd-manager squared away. I would recommend reinstalling it from git if you have an older version of it installed right now. I will give it a production-ready grade so it's a good idea to install this on the desktops of any prospective Linux users who would like to enable/disable systemd services without ne…http://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/post2015-11-21T05:52:59+00:002015-11-21T05:52:59+00:00http://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/personhttps://status.vinilox.eu/user/121855mmstickAn autistic Linux enthusiast with a hobby in programming and interest in anime.mmstickMichael Aaron MurphyAn autistic Linux enthusiast with a hobby in programming and interest in anime.Saratoga, Arkansashomepagehttps://plus.google.com/u/0/114251447858061222694truetag:status.vinilox.eu,2015-11-21:noticeId=3600113:objectType=thread:crc32=59b42d7http://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/notetag:status.vinilox.eu,2015-11-15:noticeId=3591121:objectType=noteNew note by mmstickI finished the dbus-based systemd backend in Rust and it's working perfectly as far as I can tell. It does need to be executed with sudo else it will print errors that the user doesn't have authorization to {dis,en}able services. It's been pushed to the git repo so it's readily available.

https://github.com/mmstick/systemd-manager/ https://status.vinilox.eu/attachment/870866http://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/post2015-11-15T20:42:39+00:002015-11-15T20:42:39+00:00http://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/personhttps://status.vinilox.eu/user/121855mmstickAn autistic Linux enthusiast with a hobby in programming and interest in anime.mmstickMichael Aaron MurphyAn autistic Linux enthusiast with a hobby in programming and interest in anime.Saratoga, Arkansashomepagehttps://plus.google.com/u/0/114251447858061222694truetag:status.vinilox.eu,2015-11-15:noticeId=3591121:objectType=thread:crc32=2e6cb99bhttp://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/notetag:status.vinilox.eu,2015-11-15:noticeId=3590686:objectType=noteNew note by mmstickMy backend is now enabling and disabling systemd services without any problems, so right now I am just working on getting pretty error messages when the user attempts to {en,dis}able services without root permissions or the service is already {en,dis}abled.
